    Senior Director – Research & Development – Cosmetics & Skincare – Dallas, TX

    Ready to lead? Our client has asked us to find a strong Senior Director to lead their Research & Development team and spearhead innovation. Long known for their high-performing cosmetics and skincare products, this contract manufacturer seeks someone skilled in driving development, design, and delivery of novel products with functional ingredients and trend-setting characteristics. After many years of successful product launches for their clients, they are looking to lead the industry forward yet again with creative solutions.

    Role Overview:
    As a member of the Senior Management Team you will work to create and extend iconic beauty brands for client firms with clinically-tested products that deliver measurable, real-world results. This role will interact with external and internal clients to achieve goals in concept/design, formula development, and claims testing.

    In addition, as Senior Director of Research & Development, you will lead a team of 5-10 research & development professionals, growing their technical skills and providing clear career paths to retain them. Past leadership work experience should show an ability to engage, motivate, and amplify the best in your employees. Strong formulation experience is a must to mentor both junior and senior employees.

    A strong work history of marketplace successes in similar products is needed as well as a passion the cosmetics and professional skincare trends, technologies, and innovations.

    Responsibilities:

    · Lead all research, innovation, and product development efforts
    · Leverage relationships with key suppliers to achieve better outcomes for the company and our clients
    · Find the missing “extra” that will set a client’s products apart from the competition in the marketplace
    · Mentor and grow the research department team members
    · Create and execute shared strategies with other members of the Senior Management Team around the visions and values of the organization
    · Conduct research into new products around innovative technologies
    Requirements:

    · 10-15+ years of technical work in skincare, cosmetics (which could also include OTC, dermatology/spa, and medical device/pharmaceutical)
    · 5+ years of management of employees including the development of skills and professional growth in their roles
    · Hands-on understanding of the personal care/cosmetics product development life cycle including design, formulation, testing, scale up, and manufacturing process including experience with outside CMO’s and suppliers
    · Experience working with customers/client firms to identify goals, present solutions, and resolve issues in the manufacturing process to achieve desired outcomes
    · Strong communication and leadership skills
    · Bachelors in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related field (Masters preferred)
